2-hole Glacial Kame Gorget from the Late Archaic period. Looks like banded slate and is grayish in color. About 1/4" at its thickest.
Tapered to each end. Drilled from both sides.

3/4" SLANT GROOVE AXE - 4 1/4" long x 2 3/4" wide. From Cole County, MO.
 
Nice axe made of brown hardstone.
Excellent bit, polish, deep slant groove. Reverse side poll end has a nickel-size ancient ding. Ex-Barfield.

Made of slate? Jet black in color. 100% polished and smooth. Drilled from both sides. Large size and about 1/4" thick. Lots of etched lines where the maker really worked the material.

Pendant -- Jackson COA

PENDANT - 3 3/8" long x 1 13/16" wide and from Wyandot County, OH.
 
Made of a nice piece of banded slate and gray in color. Very thin at about 1/16" or so. Well made, good symmetry. Nice example.
 
This artifact dates to the Woodland period in the 2500 B.P. range.

Bar Weight

BAR WEIGHT - 3 13/16" long x 1 1/16" wide and from IN.
 
Made of banded Slate and dark blue/gray in color.
 
Well made and nicely grooved in center on both edges. Tapered to both ends. One side is rounded and the other flat.
 
A less common artifact to come by and the first we've had of its type.

Celt

CELT - 4 3/4" long x 2 1/4" wide and from Hancock County, OH.
 
Made of speckled Granite? The tan and black spotted material makes this mid-sized Celt. Good polish on the bit and lower sides. Bit is in good shape. Nicely tapered from poll to bit.
 
Found by John McVetta in 1966 on the old Tuttle Farm.

 Discoidal

DISCOIDAL - 2 1/4" diameter x 3/4" thick and from North Dakota.
 
Made of an unusual, dark black material (Basalt?) with an almost purple tint to it.
 
Heavy material and very well made. Smooth around edge with flat surfaces on both sides. One side is a little darker than the other.

 Quartz Discoidal

DISCOIDAL - 1 7/8" and about 1" thick, from Obion County, TN.
 
Made of Quartz and yellowish in color with a little orange on each face.
 
Pretty material and well made. Small finger tip dimple on one side.

Pair of Ceremonial Celts -- Jackson COAs

 

CELTS - 8 3/8" and 8 1/4"long x 2 13/16" wide and from Erie County, NY.
 
These green hardstone celts were found as a pair and date to the Woodland period in the 2000 B.P. range.
 
Large, heavy (over 2 lbs each), and 100% polished. They have amazing dark green color that the pictures don't do justice. Both are tapered with sharp bits and no use wear. One has an ancient chip out of the back.
 
A couple of exceptional pieces.
 
Ex-Queen Ann County, Maryland museum;
ex-Ron and Tiffany Thivener collection which is featured in Who's Who #8.
 
Jackson COAs included, one for each celt.

CONE - 1 3/8" x 1" and from IL.
 
Made of red Hematite. Rounded with one flat side and a flat bottom. Not sure if this was a salvage from something else or made this way. All sides have been worked.
 
Probably Woodland and found in 1934.

Charmstone

CHARMSTONE - 8 3/4" long x 1" thick and from CA.
 
Very large example of a rare artifact.
 
Made of hard metamorphosed sandstone and dark grayish in color. It has been ground, pecked into shape and polished. Attributed to the Ohlone tribelet.
 
Pictured in Hothem's book Ornamental Indian Artifacts.

This DISCOIDAL is 2 3/4" diameter x 1 5/16" thick and from KY.

Dark brown hard stone. Cupped on both sides with one side a little deeper than the other. Light polish and an ancient chip on the edge that is patinated over.

Made of Steatite and cream/gray in color. Heavily tallied on both sides. One tally on each end. Neat little artifact.

This small full-groove AXE is 3" long x 2 1/2" wide and from KY.

It is made of brown hardstone. Bit is polished and has a couple of small nicks. Nicely grooved. May have been a child's due to small size.

This large PESTLE is  6" long and 2 1/4" thick and from Wayne County, OH near Burbank.
 
It is made of brown hardstone, has some use wear on the sides, and an intentional indentation on one end possibly a thumb grip.
